The project

Coventry AirportCoventry Airport is based in the village of Baginton, Warwickshire. With more than 50,000 sq. ft. of hangar space, easy access for aircraft and plentiful tarmac, the airport provides all the services needed by pilots to plan an efficient arrival into the historic heart of England.

A licensee of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Coventry Airport regularly reviews its facilities to ensure that it adheres to CAA quality and safety standards. To meet the latest CAA standards, the airport hangar required improved quality of lighting.

The NET LED Regional Sales Manager visited the airport to survey the premises and understand their specific lighting requirements. Following this, the NET LED Technical Team were able to provide lighting designs and savings calculations to find the optimum solution in terms of light quality.

The Solution

LED Circular High Bays were installed in the airport hangar. With a high lumen output per watt, these LED High Bays provide the light output needed for airport staff to work on an aircraft without the use of additional lighting.

The LED High Bays are robust, maintenance-free units, and being IP65 and IK rated, are protected against water, dust, external impact and vibration making them suitable for a busy aircraft hangar environment.

The Result

Since installing LED High Bays, staff and customers have noticed a vast improvement in light quality and visibility in the airport hangar.

Furthermore, the airport has received very positive feedback from CAA inspectors regarding the improvement in light quality.
