What LED Security Light Is Best?

Why use Motion Sensor lighting for security?

Fittings with built-in motion sensor functions – or external motion sensors installed – are a great security measure to have outside of commercial and industrial buildings as they act as a deterrent for potential criminal activity. This is because when motion is detected, all the lights that are connected to the sensor will turn on, alerting those nearby (or the building’s occupants) that someone is near. It also works effectively with security cameras as it creates high visibility to catch culprits on camera.

Motion sensor lighting is one of the more cost-effective alternatives for outdoor security. This is because you save on energy bills by using lights that are not on all the time. You can also set the time span that the lights will remain on for after motion is detected… saving you even more money!

Why use Photocell lighting for security?

Lighting with a Photocell function can also be used for security purposes outside of domestic and commercial properties. Photocells detect the light levels outside, so your fittings will only turn on when it starts to get dark. This means that your lights will be on from dusk till dawn, keeping your area lit at night to deter unwanted guests… and the best part is, you don’t have to remember to turn the lights on and off manually!

Top 4 Outdoor Lighting Ranges fit for security purposes

Wallpacks

Our range of Wallpacks can be used in both domestic and commercial environments. They can be used in pathways around houses, warehouse entrances, exterior commercial buildings, and stairways.

Our Wallpack Range consists of the Eastons, Westons and Hatleys. All of which are compatible with the Photocell Kit.

The PIR Hatley Up/Down Wall Lighter can also be used as a security light. It works by detecting infrared that is radiated from any objects that emit heat.

Ramsey Flood Lights

Ramsey Flood Lights are most used in Commercial settings such as parking areas, loading bays, shipping container courtyards and, of course, sports pitches.

They’re compatible with the Photocell Kit and the Merrytek 2-in-1 Motion and Photocell Sensor. This means that Ramseys can act as Motion Sensor or Photocell security lights. Keeping your building safe at night with the option of the lights turning on when motion is detected, or keeping the lights on throughout the night. If you choose to use the 2-in-1 Motion and Photocell Sensor, motion will be detected from up to 5 metres away.

Keyston Flood Lights

Keyston Flood Lights are more suited to domestic use as they’re lower in power than the other Flood Lights in our range, and will not disturb neighbours and wildlife in the area. They can be used in gardens, driveways, and exterior lighting around domestic buildings. For more commercial applications, they can be used in loading bays, parking areas and exterior lighting around buildings, including above entrances.

The Keyston Flood Lights are compatible with the PIR Motion Sensor, Merrytek 2-in-1 Motion and Photocell Sensor and the Photocell Kit. The PIR Motion Sensor is a useful security measure because it works by detecting infrared that is radiated from any objects that emit heat. It works in a similar way to a Motion Sensor and will detect when a person is nearby. Like most of our other sensors, you can also set the hold time that the light stays on after infrared/motion is detected.

Histon Street Lights

Our Histon Range of Street Lights can be used to keep the outside of a building or car park well-lit during the night. Using the compatible 3 Pin NEMA Photocell Sensor, you can set the Street Lights to come on from dusk till dawn. This means no remembering to turn them on and off, AND you can keep the surrounding area of your building well lit throughout the night.
