“The process was pain free from start to finish. NET LED provided a lighting solution that ticked all the boxes in terms of light quality and compliance. We have seen a massive improvement in the brightness and quality of light and expect to see long-term energy and maintenance cost savings.”
Stephen James is a new and approved used BMW retailer in Enfield, North London, who also offers servicing and repairs. As a BMW retailer, the car dealership ensures that it adheres to BMW’s high standards in all its facilities.
To meet new BMW requirements, the old light fittings in the body shop area needed to be replaced. With a light output of 600lm, the old fittings were inefficient and unable to deliver the brightness needed.
Additionally, a new lighting solution was needed in the car dealership’s showroom that would comply with Building Regulations B2. The regulations require that, where the lighting forms part of the internal ceiling lining of the building, it must restrict the spread of fire over its surfaces. To ensure compliance, Panel Lights with flammability-rated diffusers were required.
A diffuser with no flammability rating can melt with burning plastic in the event of a fire, causing combustion on surfaces and risking the safety of the occupants in a building. It was therefore essential to find a lighting solution that would ensure the safety of customers and staff.
The NET LED Regional Sales Manager visited the car dealership to survey the premises and understand their specific lighting requirements. Following this, the NET LED Technical Team were able to provide lighting designs and savings calculations to find the optimum solution in terms of light quality, compliance and efficiency.
Energy efficient 150W LED High Bays were installed in the body shop areas. With a light output of 17,800lm from each fitting, the LED High Bays provide the light needed for Stephen James’ mechanics to do their jobs efficiently and accurately. Furthermore, with a luminous efficacy of >140lm/W, the car dealership will see significant long-term energy savings of 70%.
Fitted with Philips LED chips and Mean Well drivers, the LED High Bays are a reliable option with a life expectancy of 50,000 hours, significantly reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
Panel Lights with TP(b) flammability-rated diffusers were installed in the showroom. Offering a high lumen output per Watt and featuring flicker free drivers, these efficient and reliable fittings provide the light quality needed for a bright and welcoming showroom environment.
Featuring TP(b) flammability-rated Polycarbonate diffusers that have been independently tested by the Lighting Industry Association (LIA), these Panels ensure compliance and peace of mind.
Since installing the LED High Bays and TP(b) rated Panel Lights, the staff at Stephen James have noticed a vast improvement in light quality and visibility in the body shop areas and showroom. Commenting on his experience with NET LED, Facilities Co-ordinator Mario Pizun said that “The process was pain free from start to finish. NET LED provided a lighting solution that ticked all the boxes in terms of light quality and compliance. We have seen a massive improvement in the brightness and quality of light and expect to see long-term energy and maintenance cost savings.”
