“The products look great and, over time, will save us a fortune. We are already speaking with NET LED about the second phase of the refurbishment project.”

Senior Operations Manager, Buckmore Park

Buckmore Park Kart Circuit in Chatham, Kent, is renowned as the training grounds for UK Formula 1 World Champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. The 1,200 metre track is located in a woodland setting between the M2 and M20 motorways. Its proximity to London makes it Great Britain’s busiest karting circuit.

As part of a major refurbishment project, Buckmore Park sought to replace its outdoor metal halide flood lights and interior fluorescent lighting with energy saving LED products across the entire premises. Comprised of a 12-turn track, storage and pit stop areas, conference facilities and amenities, the company was looking for a range of solutions to suit each application.

NET LED Lighting was recommended as a supplier early in the specification process. Members of the NET LED team were invited to give presentations to key decision makers, survey the site, and demonstrate the suitability of its products within the applications specified.

Phase one of the refurbishment project began in December 2015 with the successful specification and installation of Leyond 150W LED High Power Flood Lights. These high light output, weather-proof and flicker-free units were selected to illuminate the full track.
The company incorporated LED 2D Bulkheads above the first floor track viewing station, improving the quality of light for spectators.

LED Panel Lights were selected for the entrance areas, amenities and conference facilities. Featuring a PMMA acrylic Light Guide Plate (LGP) that does not discolour with use, these LED Panel Lights are long-lasting, highly cost-effective solutions for indoor applications. The Panels were installed with 3 Hour Emergency Kits to ensure customer and staff safety in emergency situations.

Customers and staff immediately noted the improved quality of light at Buckmore Park. Operations staff performed a cost savings calculation prior to installation and projected substantial energy savings as a result of switching to LED.

Commenting on the installation, Philip Ling, Senior Operations Manager at Buckmore Park said: “All of the products supplied by NET LED Lighting have proven to be manufactured to a high quality. They look great and, over time, will save us a fortune.”

“The products have been easy to install. We are already speaking with NET LED about the second phase of our refurbishment project.”
