Efficient, Maintenance Free Lighting for this Car Park

THE PROJECT

Bancroft Road car park has 5 floors and contained 350 standard fluorescent tubes of various sizes (6ft @ 72W and 5ft @ 59W including ballasts). The annual power consumption for the site was 229,959 kW at a cost of £26,444 per annum. With the aid of Salix funding an energy saving solution needed to be implemented.

THE SOLUTION

Following a successful trial of NET LED Tubes a complete refit of the car park lighting was undertaken replacing all 350 tubes. The 6ft 72W fluorescents were repalced with NET LED Tubes consuming only 22W and the 5ft 59W fluorescents with 18W NET LED Tubes. The work was undertaken by DH Croft Ltd.

THE RESULT

The end result not only provided a far better level of lighting, as can be clearly seen in the 2 photos, but more importantly, following detailed power consumption monitoring before and after the installation, the annual savings are calculated at £13,390. This equates to a carbon footprint reduction of 67 tonnes CO2. In addition to these savings, the ongoing maintenance costs will also be greatly reduced as the expected life of the new NET LED Tubes is in excess of 50,000 hours (11 years assuming 12 hours usage per day)
