Torquay Leisure Hotels has been delighted with the light output and functionality of the Duxford LED 2D Bulkheads and has already seen significant savings in energy costs.
Torquay hotel group, Torquay Leisure Hotels (TLH), is working with South West electrical wholesalers, Devondale, for an ongoing lighting refurbishment programme to improve energy usage across its portfolio of hotels. Devondale Electrical Wholesalers’ Torquay branch has been working with TLH’s in-house electricians to replace their old halogen and tungsten lighting with LED; most products sourced from NET LED. The project is part of ongoing initiatives to improve the hotel group’s environmental impact and reduce energy costs, helping to maintain their competitive hotel rates.
Duxford LED 2D IP54 Bulkheads supplied by NET LED were installed in the hotel corridors. These Bulkheads are fitted with Motion Sensors and a Standby Mode so that lights can be off completely (0%) or on very dimly (10%) and then light up to full brightness (100%) when activated by motion in the corridors. This results in significant energy cost savings as the luminaires are only at full brightness when needed.
In addition, these Bulkheads have three-hour emergency lighting built in, so will be illuminated in the event of a mains failure or other emergency such as a fire, providing visibility and ensuring that hotel guests and staff can evacuate safely and efficiently.
The Duxford LED 2D Bulkheads are also Tri-Colour, allowing for the colour temperature of the light output to be chosen at the time of installation. The Bulkheads can therefore be easily adapted to the purpose of the room at the time of installation, saving the hotel time with orders, while the electrical wholesaler saves stock space with one multi-option model.

Group Property Manager at TLH, Ian Bolingbroke said: “We are in the process of replacing inefficient fluorescent, halogen and tungsten lighting with energy efficient LED lights and panels. This not only improves our impact on the environment but also contributes significant cost savings helping us to maintain our competitive hotel rates.”
